I heard a Golden Oriole this morning while Nordic walking through the wood near our house. Amazing, exotic, tropical bird sound. Like fluting, liquid gold. This link sounds a lot like it, but as there's a lot of variety in the song from individual bird to individual bird, it's not quite like the one I heard, which sounded even more beautiful.
I'd heard it for the last two years here but didn't know what it was; thanks to Google, I found out. No wonder I didn't know what it was; they're very rare in the UK and breed in Europe, particularly in the South, returning to the tropics, eg. India for the winter. Glorious.
