The System:Kosmos Diabolikos

There's a lot of truth in this as regards any man-made system, including the religious, man-organised and managed institutions which call themselves 'churches'. Sometimes you feel like they're on a different planet to the one you're on. The people aren't the enemy, although circumstances sometimes make it look like it... 'Our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heaveny plaves.' Eph.6:12 .
They're just so poisoned by and caught up in the spider's web-system of worldly religious control, that they can't recognise their predicament and think that what they're in is normal; ok, good, even. And if you try to tell them what you see, they feel threatened and angry, or look at you as if you're mad.

Morpheus:
The Matrix is a system, Neo. That system is our enemy. But when you're inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inert, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it.
Morpheus:
What is the Matrix? Control.
