OK, here's the next one...
Our daughter came home today and told us that a girl in her German class had given a powerpoint presentation on Playboy, complete with pictures of half naked women. The male teacher, standing in front of the whiteboard where the pictures were shown, requested, half-jokingly, that no-one from the class should take a photo of him standing in front of the images with their mobile phones. WHY? Because he knew jolly well that he was on shaky ground.

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)

None of the others in her class can see what's wrong with it. So students don't tell their parents, and so parents do nothing and the teachers get away with it. It's exactly the same spirit which allowed the rise of Nazism in Germany. But Isaiah 59:19 declares: "...when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord lifts up a standard against him." Regardless where the commas should go in that statement, the Spirit of the Lord wants to raise up a standard.

We are going to speak to the teacher next week and then have an appointment with the Head. We will ask the teacher what his agenda is, what the educational aims of this subject matter are, and why he chose to take a book (see yesterday's entry) to teach to his class, which isn't even in the 11th grade curriculum but in the 12th and 13th grades, and in what way he expects his students to benefit from the subject matter he has chosen, when studies overwhelmingly show its detrimental effect on society.
