Thundering Blueberries

Had a terrific rainstorm yesterday. Was out picking blueberrries with Hannah and one of her school friends - we cycled out to the field - took us about 20 minutes to get there - and spent a couple of happy hours picking 18 pounds, only to be caught in a torrential downpour in the last 15 minutes. We heard the thunder and saw the lightning a few miles off and thought it would circumnavigate us completely - well, it did, actually, but then it decided to visit us at the last minute anyway. We were totally drenched within half a minute, to the great enjoyment of the people at the kiosk where we payed for the blueberries afterwards. Actually it was just as well - if we'd picked any more we wouldn't have been able to pay of them all. It was rather hilarious.
We cycled home, soaked to the skin and enjoyed a hot shower. Aaaaaah.
No colds this morning; I steeled myself against the idea, in spite of the odd sneeze - we now have thirteen jars of blueberry jam standing on the side in the kitchen, three containers in the freezer
and enough fresh berries to make muffins, a pie and to have a few on muesli. Yummy.
